What the site collects

• Addresses you check. When you type an address, the browser sends it to Mapbox to find matching places. When you pick one, the address and its coordinates go to the Permitz backend, which records the query: the address, the coordinates, the jurisdiction it resolved to, and the time.
• An email you submit. If you enter an email to receive a PDF or to join the report waitlist, the backend stores that email as a lead, together with the anonymous browser ID and the address it was attached to. It creates no account.
• An anonymous browser ID. The site stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage. It rate-limits the free check and links a query to a lead. It contains no personal data.
• How you arrived. On your first page in a session, the site notes the referring page, any utm_ or ref parameters in the URL, and the landing path. This stays in session storage and is sent with a query or a lead.
• Error and performance reports. Sentry receives error reports from the site. It samples 10% of page loads for performance traces and 10% of sessions for session replay, and records a replay when an error occurs. Replays mask text input.
• Account data. If you sign in, Permitz stores your email and, for Google sign-in, the name and profile picture Google returns. Magic-link emails are sent through Resend.
• Payments. Card details are entered on a Stripe form and go to Stripe. Permitz never receives a card number.

What the site does not do

• No advertising trackers and no third-party analytics cookies.
• No sale of personal data.
• No automated email follow-up. A message from Permitz is written and sent by a person.

Where the data lives

The site runs on Vercel. Query records, leads, and accounts are stored in Convex. Geocoding runs on Mapbox, error monitoring on Sentry, email delivery on Resend, and payments on Stripe. Each processor receives only the data named above.

How the data is used

Query records show which jurisdictions people ask about and how often one browser repeats a check. Leads are the list of people who asked for a PDF or the report. Error reports fix bugs. Nothing is used to build a profile of you across other sites.

Your choices

To see or delete the data held about you, email alex@permitz.ai with the email address or the property address you entered. Clearing your browser's site data removes the anonymous ID and the arrival snapshot. See also the terms.
